FBR de-attaches Bank Accounts of Utility Stores Corporation

ISLAMABAD (SBN): The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has de-attaches the Bank Accounts of Utility Stores Corporation in compliance of Islamabad High Court.

The Large Taxpayer Office (LTO) Islamabad has sent a letter to the the different commercial banks in this regard. The Deputy Commissioner of the LTO Islamabad said that the board has taken this decision in compliance of the Islamabad High Court.

All the bank accounts of the subject taxpayer, already attached, are de-attached with immediate effect,” The DC of LTO mentioned in the letter.

Last week, the FBR’ LTU Islamabad had attached bank accounts of the USC on account of non-payment of sales tax arrears of Rs 8.19 billion. According to the FBR, the USC did not pay arrears of the sales tax from long times, according to the sources.

The LTU Islamabad had also issued recovery notices to all relevant banks for the attachment of the bank accounts of the USC all over the country.

After LTU’s action, USC also filed a complaint about the harassment from the FBR in the Federal Tax Ombudsman.

The USC had lodged the complaint in the FTO against the Deputy Commissioner of the LTO Islamabad Muhammad Fiaz Hussain. Mis administration and mis-representation during under process appeal filed by Utility Stores Corporation relevant to tax period w.e.f. 2012 to 2016 through submission of report No. 129 dated 28.08.2023.
