ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan ECP today has announced the reserved verdict on Maryam Nawaz appointment as a vice president.

“Maryam Nawaz holds the party position as a vice president”, said in a ECP decision. ECP also rejected the ruling party MNA Maleeka Bukhari petition agianst Maryam Nawaz appointment as a vice president.

Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza, headed a three member bench. CEC said that the vice president is the symbolic position which has powerless.

CEC also stated in a short decision, “Maryam Nawaz never hold the acting president position or any other decision making post in the party.

Ruling Party Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf member National Assembly Maleeka Bukhari including three others filed the application against Maryam Nawaz.

Election body also reserved the decision yesterday after both sides counsels completed their arguments.

PTI counsel Hasan Maan argued that the Maryam Nawaz should be disqualified on the basis of Supreme court order in Nawaz Sharif case.

PML-N counsels also urges Maryam Nawas has the position of vice president and it has symbolic in nature.

N-league counsels also said that the Supreme Court decision in the matter of Maryam Nawaz not applied.
