ISLAMABAD (our correspondent):- The Veteran Pakistani actor Abid Ali died today in Karachi due to long ailing of liver diseases.
Pakistani veteran Pakistani television actor, director and producer died today at the age of 67.
Actor Abid Ali had been ailing from a liver disease for a long time. He was also admitted at a private hospital in Karachi. He passed away on Thursday.
His wife Rabia Abid Ali and daughter Rahma Ali also confirmed his death.
Abid Sher Ali born in 1952 in Quetta, Blochistan. He also worked as an actor, director, and producer, acting in several TV and film productions.
After working at Radio Pakistan, he launched a successful career as an actor with the PTV drama ‘Jhok Sial’ in 1973.
He was the director and producer of ‘Dasht’, a 1993 hit drama. He also played the role of ‘Shams Shah’ in this drama.
Abid Ali is the recipient of the prestigious Pride of Performance. He has three daughters, including renowned model and actress Iman Aly and singer Rahma Ali.
His daughter, Rahma, also later confirmed her father’s death in a message posted on her Instagram account.
Top government officials and members of the civil society also expressed deep condolence on the demise of the veteran actor.
The SAPM Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan expressed her sorrow over the demise of famous television artist Abid Ali.
In a message of condolence, she said today Pakistan has lost a bright star of film, drama and theatre.
She said his services in the field of art would be remembered for a long time to come.
Firdous prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and. She also prayed for granting courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.
