ISLAMABAD (Our correspondent): The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved 16 projects including Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Program phase one here in Islamabad.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar chaired the meeting. The meeting accorded approval to 08 projects worth Rs. 11 billion and recommended 08 projects worth Rs. 206 billion to ECNEC for consideration.
Ministry of Climate Change presented Ten Billion Tree Tsunami project (phase-1) worth Rs.125 billion. The meeting approved it and referred to ECNEC for final approval.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Planning Khusru Bakhtyar said that this is a flagship project of the incumbent government. He hoped that the institutions concerned will select environment friendly species for effective implementation of the program. The targets of the program will also contribute towards soil conservation, improve water storage capacity and recharge of the aquifer of the areas.
Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission presented a project “Pakistan Research Reactor-3” worth Rs.4671.050 million.
The meeting also approved the project “Interlinking of 220 KV Dharki, Rahim Yar Khan, Bhawalpur amd Chistian Grid Stations for improvement of power supply system in Southern Area” worth Rs.12273.39 million and referred to ECNEC.
The CDWP also approved the project “220 KV Larkana New Substation” worth Rs. 5804.95 and referred to ECNEC. It also approved the Consultancy Services for Feasibility study of solar water pumping in Baluchistan area.
The meeting also approved Pakistan Multi-Mission Satellite projec worth Rs.34.66 billion and referred to ECNEC.
Food and Agriculture
The CDWP meeting also approved six projects related to Food and Agriculture. The meeting also approved the first Promotion of Trout Farming in Northern areas of Pakistan project worth Rs.2.35 billion. It also approved the project Pilot Shrimp Farming cluster Development project worth Rs.6.12 billion.
The meeting also approved the Prime Minister Initiative for Save the Calf worth Rs.3.4 billion and referred to ECNEC. It also approved the Agriculture & Food titled “Water Conservation in Barani Areas of KP” worth Rs.14.26 billion. The meeting also referred the project to ECNEC.
CDWP also approved a project titled “Provision of Security Infrastructure in Malakand, Swat and other conflict areas of KP (Revised)” worth Rs2.95 billion.
