ISLAMABAD:- The Chairman Board of Investment (BoI) Haroon Sharif has briefed the visiting Chinese delegation on progress of Rashakai SEZ to make it timely operation.
A Chinese delegation of Road and Bridge Cooperation (CRBC) visited Board of Investment (BOI). Both sides discussed the timelines to make the Rashakai SEZ operational.
During the meeting, Chairman BOI explained that the Rashakai Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has a strategic significance. He said that the project is closer to Afghanistan and Central Asian Countries. Haroon added that BOI is strengthening its capacity to have specific officials to deal with the investors from different countries. He also briefed the delegation about the work on important assignments, including SEZs with particular focus on the SEZ.
Both sides also discussed on the issue of incentive package for the SEZ during the meeting. Chairman BOI emphasized the need to have regular monthly meetings, inviting all stakeholders to fast track the progress on the SEZ.
Meanwhile, while discussing the importance of Rashakai SEZ, Director CRBC termed it as a role
model project for other planned SEZs.
He said that Rashakai economic zone will result in the
industrial development, which would create employment opportunities and generate economic activity, while the combined efforts of all stakeholders would be crucial for the success of the project.
